I walk with you
Day by day,
I watch over you
All the way,
I can't be with you always -
You are grown up I know;
Forty one years ago
You were a helpless parasite
On my maternal goodwill;
But how you have grown!
I couldnt imagine how well!
You've turned into a belle,
Confident and strong,
Better than me -
That is exactly how
It should be.,
You did the work,
I take the credit,
Such a beautiful daughter!
How could I merit
Such good fortune
In having you here?
So I still walk with you,
Every day I hold your hand,
I watch you live your life;
Not vicarious - just exultant -
Watching you be mother and wife
The day will come, one day,
That my spirit is all that remains;
But still I will watch over you -
All the way.
